Eames 2 to 1, 1998
9 January 2018
The series focused on unique design objects that would be produced in a large scale Fordist system, thereby making the person producing the work become a part of the machine and assuring their anonymity in the production. Mass-produced fiberglass chairs designed by Charles and Ray Eames were recast to form two chairs combined into one, thus creating two works from one.
Hence, there is the reference to the original and the copies to produce two discrete works as the process and the function.
